Camp Heritage Service Day A Success

On Saturday June 21st 2014, 15 members of the Pittsburgh NESA chapter met at the Heritage scout reservation ranger’s office for a day of service. The morning started off overcast and humid but that didn’t slow our team down. Our first task was building platforms and tent frames for a new easy access campsite located in camp Freedom close to the dining hall.

Pittsburgh NESA takes on lake rebuilding at Camp Anawanna.

With the help of Eagle Scout – Bruce McElhaney (President) Maxxco Inc., Pittsburgh NESA began the arduous task of rebuilding the lake at Camp Anawanna. The lake was mostly destroyed years back with damaging runoff as an upper lake was breached and emptied. After years of sitting mostly drained with excessive silt build up and a severely damaged spillway, efforts are underway to excavate the lake, rebuild the spillway and breathe new life into the lake.

2015 Career Mentoring Program

 Pittsburgh NESA is currently accepting applicants for the annual career mentoring program starting in late February and running through mid summer. The primary objective of the program is to match younger adult Eagles (“mentees”) with more experienced Eagles (“mentors”) in their chosen fields of interest.

Service Team – 2014 1st Quarter Report

The Service Team continues to develop under the new Strategic Plan adopted NESA Pittsburgh in 2013.  The overall goal of the Service Team is to support our Camps and District Assets with skilled and non-skilled ‘Eagle’ labor dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of facilities and grounds.

2014 Outstanding Eagle Scout Award

The Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is designed to honor Eagles that have brought great credit and distinction to the Eagle Scout Rank at a local and regional level. Their actions and accomplishments have elevated the stature of Eagle Scouts in the public eye and each recipient has lived up to the standards set forth in the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
